Resumo:The present contribution analysed the feed of the ‘capiras paulistas’ at the book “Os Parceiros do Rio Bonito” wrote by Antonio Candido in mid-1954. With authors from socio-anthropology and history of food, we studied the chapters that address the topic of food to comprehend the lifestyle of the ‘caipira paulista’ and their transformations This paper was organized into four sections: the first the author and the book were described, after the eating practices of the ‘caipira paulista’ in daily and at parties were analyzed. At end the transformations with the urbanization were emphasized. Certainly, the changes in the feeds of ‘caipiras’ were associated with the social and economic changes, which, as a result of progressive incorporations of the modern economy, affected the organicity of social life and caused ruptures in various aspects of the group’s life. Nowadays, this is characterized as a threat to their Sovereignty and Food Security.
